FAO releases 2023 global pesticide usage data: total usage of 3.728 million tons

    The FAO official website has released pesticide usage data for countries/regions around the world in 2023. The total amount of pesticides used worldwide in 2023 is 3728162 tons.


    In 2023, the 20 countries with the largest pesticide consumption in the world will be Brazil (800652 tons, accounting for 21.48% of the total), the United States (429501 tons, accounting for 11.52% of the total), Indonesia (294935 tons, accounting for 7.91% of the total), Argentina (262507 tons, accounting for 7.04% of the total), China (229026 tons, accounting for 6.14% of the total), Australia (182264 tons, accounting for 4.89% of the total), Vietnam (161908 tons, accounting for 4.34% of the total), Russia (97018 tons, accounting for 2.60% of the total consumption), Canada (95645 tons, accounting for 2.57% of the total consumption), France (65415 tons, accounting for 1.75% of the total consumption), Türkiye (57576 tons, accounting for 1.54% of the total consumption), Spain (52907 tons, accounting for 1.42% of total usage), Nigeria (48184 tons, accounting for 1.29% of total usage), Japan (45574 tons, accounting for 1.22% of total usage), South Africa (42041 tons, accounting for 1.13% of total usage), Germany (40494 tons, accounting for 1.09% of total usage), India (40094 tons, accounting for 1.08% of total usage), Italy (39571 tons, accounting for 1.06% of total usage), the Philippines (37660 tons, accounting for 1.01% of total usage), Mexico (37298 tons, accounting for 1.00% of total usage).
